    Bajaj Pulsar 200NS

Posted by Unknown Posted on 03:54 with No comments
Claimed to be the world’s first motorcycle to adopt the Triple Spark Engine Technology, the all-new Pulsar has been hitting the streets of Nepal since its launch in September 2012. Introduced by HH Bajaj, the sole authorized distributor of Bajaj two-wheelers in Nepal, the next-gen Pulsar has made quite an impression from the launch day – thanks to its great looks. A team from New Auto Nepal did the test ride around the streets valley to figure it out more closely.

    Engine and Performance:

While being introduced in the Indian Market, the new Pulsar 200 NS was acclaimed to add further study on ‘Performance Motorcycle’. The engine of Pulsar 200 NS is regarded as the-most reformed engine of its entire brand till date. Its four-valve head is powered by a single overhead camshaft, and its combustion chamber is home to a trio of spark plugs. It has maximum power of 23.17 Bhp @ 9500 rpm and maximum torque of 18.3 Nm @ 8000 rpm. Since it’s powered with triple spark technology, the combustion efficiency is better than twin spark plug by 27% and single spark plug by 50%. The solid six-speed gearbox shifts effortlessly, with exact feel in a one-down, five-up pattern, and the clutch sense is also good. The combination of these technologies makes the overall performance of the bike excellent.

    Style

The new Pulsar NS 200 is all muscle and bulk. Its muscular perimeter frame, specially designed foot pegs, split seat, clip on handle bar, sporty naked chain makes it look a definitely-male motorbike. The tapered headlight shines a brilliant – well focused beam at night. Tucked its silencer box neatly away below its engine makes it more appealing. Overall, the style perfectly matches its next-gen theme and makes it stand out from the crowd.

    Riding and Security

Though the bike might have a sporty posture, riding NS 200 is very comfortable – as it is more commuter friendly than it looks. But it feels huge to sit-in and the slightly wider handlebar grips – of a very nice texture – underpins your feeling of this bike being a large motorcycle. The NS provides a well padded, roomy split saddle, and is a comfortable bike to lead – thanks to an upright riding position. The seat height is also higher and coupled with the short wheelbase gives better quickness to the bike. The Pulsar easily holds its line when committed mid-corner, even as it falls short of feeling as light and effortless to turn-in as its sibling, the 200 Duke. Ride quality is simply good.

The Pulsar NS 200 leans over with an effortlessness that implies it is 20-25kg lighter than the initial impression. Brakes are very good too and the bike is backed up with enough power as you continue to squeeze the lever. The rear disc also allows a fair amount of travel so modulating pressure is easy.

Performance is matched by a significantly more capable chassis both in ride and handling departments and that means all in all, this is a great bike to ride on.

Bajaj had launched Pulsar 200 NS and KTM Duke almost at the same time in the Indian Market, and a lot of bike enthusiasts seemed confused regarding the similarity of these two. However, besides crankshaft, crankcase and gear box there are lot of unique features in both the bikes.

The Pulsar has been the basis of affordable performance. Bajaj have managed to instill the new motorcycle with a good sense of performance while retaining both in design terms and in engine note.

    An Amazing MotorBike From Lotus

Posted by Unknown Posted on 20:07 with No comments

Good news for the leather romper suit community: Lotus has just released a fresh batch of images of the C-01, the company's first ever motorbike. And doesn't it look astonishing?

And before you file this under ‘Pipedream Render That'll Never Ever Happen', hold on. Because the C-01 is real. And will be built.

Kodewa - the outfit that builds Lotus's Le Mans racer and is in charge of this two-wheeled project - has confirmed that a prototype is road registered and unleashing 200bhp on the streets as we speak.

The C-01 is a design from the pen of VW Group designer Daniel Simon (the genius futurist behind a lot of the Bugatti Veyron and these amazing creations) and made with bits from the Holzer Group, which specialises in making things to go inter outer space.

The C-01's raked-out front forks, long-wheel-base design and wider rubber at the back give it the look of a drag bike. It's also wrapped in a John Player Special carbon livery, which instantly makes anything cool. Not a fan? Don't worry, a range of other legendary liveries that pay homage to Lotus's heritage are also available.

Hanging between the two wheels is a 4-stroke engine, 200bhp V-Twin. That's as much power a Renaultsport Clio, in something that weighs only 181 kg. No performance figures yet, but we're guessing that you'll have to hold on tight.

This isn't the first time a manufacturer of lightweight cars has gone two-wheeled: Caterham recently announced that it wanted to leather up and get its knee down. But Lotus's bike isn't actually built by the guys in Norfolk that'll knock you together an Exige S: instead, like the Lotus F1 team, the C-01 is produced under licence. Does this put us off? Not at all. Just look at it!

Unfortunately we don't know exactly how much this two-wheeler will cost. What we do know is that only 100 units will be made - so if you do want one, you'll have register your interest sharpish.

But the C-01 raises an important question. What other car manufacturer would you like to see having a crack at the two-wheeled world? Let us know below.-TopGear.com
